Continued violence in Nigeria leaving Christians 'paralysed by fear'

A Nigerian priest has said a surge in violence against Christians has left people paralysed by fear and unable to go about their normal lives.
Speaking to Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), Fr Sam Ebute of Kangoro (pictured above) said Christians were constantly worried about the next spate of attacks.
He said: "For the past seven weeks, we have been burying our parishioners with no end in sight. These last attacks have left us all in fear and especially the fear of the unknown because we do not know when the next round of attacks will happen and what will trigger it.

في الدعوة الأولى كان السيد المسيح يدعونا لنطرح أحمال ابليس وفي الثانية كان يدعونا لنحمل حمله.

Dr Mariz Tadros, Director of CREID and Professor of Politics and Development at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, highlighted the need to recognise how ideologically motivated sexual grooming targets women from religious minorities in order for effective action to be taken.
Dr Tadros argued that there is an urgent need to:
Recognise officially ideologically motivated sexual grooming as a form of sexual predatory behaviour that targets many women who belong to religious minorities
Create an accountable police force that secures the return of girls who have disappeared without delay
Ensure that families and the girl who has disappeared are afforded a safe and neutral place to meet, while ensuring full protection from any harassment or mortal fear

Nigerian celebrities join calls to end mass killings of Christians in new campaign

Several high-profile Nigerian celebrities have taken part in a campaign calling for an end to the ongoing violence targeting Christian communities in southern Kaduna state.
A series of short videos entitled "Stop the Killings in Southern Kaduna" was released on Sunday featuring actors, comedians, music artists and business executives.
The struggle of Arab secularists within their environments is a complex one with centuries of theocracy and tyranny. Over the last century and a half, Arab secularists have both progressed and been delayed repeatedly because of their bitter struggle with several forces. Among these forces are ignorance, illiteracy, tyranny, the power of religious institutions, and finally the Islamic tide that has hit the region since the failures of both the liberal project followed by the Arab national project. I am not pessimistic about the future of secularists in Egypt and the Arab societies though I realize the magnitude, dimensions and gravity of the battle between these two parties: the proponents of science, civil society and the values of modernity versus the proponents of tyranny and theocracy.
Religious freedom violators could be targeted under new UK government powers

New powers aimed at people involved in serious human rights abuses are being brought in, the Foreign Secretary said.
The UK is bringing in a new regime to target the "worst human rights violators", the Foreign Office has stated.
Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said: "From today, the UK will have new powers to stop those involved in serious human rights abuses and violations from entering the UK, channelling money through our banks and profiting from our economy.
نصر المجالي: قررت محكمة لندنية اليوم الجمعة، سجن البريطانية المتحولة إلى الإسلام التي كانت أدت الولاء لـ(داعش) صفية شيخ مدى الحياة بتهمة التآمر لتفجير كاتدرائية القديس بولس خلال احتفالات عيد الفصح العام 2019.
ومن التهم التي وجهت لصفية شيخ (36 عاما) التي كانت تخضع لرقابة جهاز الاستخبارات الداخلي البريطانيMI5 التخطيط لزرع قنبلة في فندق قريب ثم تفجير نفسها في هجوم انتحاري على مترو أنفاق لندن.
وقرر قاضي محكمة (أولد بيلي) وجوب أن تخدم صفية شيخ التي مثلت أمام المحكمة مرتدية جلبابا وحجابا أسودين، مدة ما لا يقل عن 14 عاما في السجن.
وبعد الحكم القضائي، حيث كانت أقرت بذنبها في التخطيط لهجوم ونشر مواد إرهابية، تم نقل صفية بواسطة الشرطة إلى السجن حيث كانت تبتسم، ورفعت إصبعها في تحية لها ارتباط بتنظيم الدولة الإسلامية (داعش).

هذا مع ان قضية مثل العنصرية يجب ان تبنى على اعتبارات اكثر عمومية من مجرد حدث لم يبت القضاء فيه. بل ان القضاء فى هذا الحدث يواجه عقبات بعد ان اكتسبت القضية الصبغة السياسية التى اصبحت تتحكم فى مسارها.
ويعقد من الامر وجود آراء مسبقة لدى الكثيرين ضد امريكا. وهناك من لديهم الاستعداد لادانة امريكا بدون تردد وبلا نقاش ورغم هذا تظل أمريكا البلد الذى يحلمون بالهجرة اليه.
بلاغ للنائب العام المصريّ يطالب برفع الحصانة عن شيخ الأزهر

تقدّم باحث إسلامي ومحام ببلاغ للنائب العام المصري يطالب فيه برفع الحصانة عن شيخ الأزهر الدكتور أحمد الطيب، وتضمن البلاغ طعناً في دستورية المادة رقم 7 من الدستور في ما يخص مسؤولية المؤسسة الدينية العتيقة دون غيرها عن شؤونها، وكذلك الفقرة التي منحت الإمام الأكبر حق البقاء على رأس مؤسسته مدى الحياة.
وقال الباحث الإسلامي والمحامي المصري المستشار أحمد عبده ماهر في دعواه التي تم تسجيلها، اليوم الاثنين، تحت رقم 23081 عرائض مكتب فنّي النائب العام: "رفع الشاكي منذ العام 2009 دعاوى ضد الأزهر لتصحيح مجون وارد بالتراث الإسلامي يتم تدريسه واعتماده بالأزهر".
نزوع بعض المتحمسين فى المشيخة الأزهرية إلى ملاحقة الأنفاس فى صدور الناقدين للمشيخة سلوك مستجد على أخلاق المشيخة العريقة التى كانت ولاتزال قبلة للوسطية والتسامح، سيما على رأسها إمام طيب اسمًا ووصفًا، الدكتور الطيب أحمد الطيب، لفضيلته كل الاحترام.
ويقينى أن الإمام لا يرتضيه هذا الذى يصدر باسم المشيخة تعسفا، وعنوانه الأثير (وَلَا تَسْتَوِى الْحَسَنَةُ وَلَا السَّيِّئَةُ ادْفَعْ بِالَّتِى هِيَ أَحْسَنُ فَإِذَا الَّذِى بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ عَدَاوَةٌ كَأَنَّهُ وَلِيٌّ حَمِيمٌ) (فصلت/ 34).
لماذا هذه الغلظة فى الملاحقة، عبر بيانات وبلاغات ترهب المنتقدين، هذا كثير، وقليله مضر بالحالة الحوارية الصحية حول دور الأزهر الشريف فى زمن ترنو الأنظار إلى المشيخة بافتخار يغيظ الإخوان والتابعين.
